In our breeding program, we believe that the most important aspect is bettering the breed.  Whether we have a Rottweiler litter or Dachshund litter, we strive to produce only what we feel will be a match that will better the breed.  Sound, outgoing and loving temperaments are the most important aspect of our program, along with high intelligence and dogs that meet the physical breed standard as closely as we can possibly predict.  We run breed-necessary health clearances on all of our adult dogs, and will not breed anything we feel is not to standard.  Due to our high standards, we have litters only on occasion.  Due to our specific Dachshund bloodlines, while we breed Standard Smooths, we sometimes have recessive-longhairs available in our litters.

Briswood Kennels, originally Painted Dove Rottweilers, consists of myself, Alex Hooper (nee Lacey Wisler), and my mother, Patricia Wisler.  We have owned Rottweilers since 1996, Dachshunds since 2010, and been involved in AKC showing and obedience since 1999.  We are presently involved in the show ring, obedience, Rally, carting, therapy work, tracking, and Barn Hunt.  In each of these fields, we have put over 100 titles on our own dogs and client dogs.  While I do the more glamorous showing element, my mother has done the amazing job of training all of our dogs through their obedience, rally, carting and therapy titles.  On occasion, we will take client dogs for obedience or rally training, as well.

      We have been blessed to have Rottweiler wisdom and our amazing "Paris" from Daviann Mitchell-Braun's Nighthawk Rottweilers; our "Sydney" from Ann Callahan's Baar Rottweilers; and, our first Champion, from Lucene Rottweilers.  We are also grateful to Jeanine Sudinski and Mechelle Stall, of Lucene Dachshunds (2014 AKC Hound Breeders of the Year), for their mentorship in our Smooth Standard Dachshunds, and how closely we follow their breeding program.
